Legal basis for processing
Under the NDPA, NDPR, and related rules, we process personal data on one or more of these bases:
- Contract — to provide the Platform you signed up for (account, applications, listings, billing)
- Consent — for optional cookies, some marketing, and where you choose to share sensitive profile details
- Legitimate interest — to secure systems, prevent abuse, improve the product, and communicate service-related information, balanced against your rights
- Legal obligation — where Nigerian or other applicable law requires retention or disclosure
How we share data
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Employers and seekers — when you apply to a job or publish a company profile, relevant application or listing data is visible to the other party
- Service providers — hosting, databases, email delivery, analytics, file storage, search, authentication, and payment processors under contracts that require appropriate protection of personal data
- Professional advisers and authorities — where reasonably necessary for legal claims, audits, or to comply with a lawful request
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continued confidentiality obligations
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and (where you allow) understand how the Platform is used.
- Essential — authentication, security, and load balancing; required for the Platform to function
- Functional — preferences such as cookie choices and UI settings
- Analytics — aggregated usage metrics to improve features
You can manage non-essential cookies through our cookie preferences control in the footer, and through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other core features from working.
Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Platform, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal requirements.
- Account data — for the life of the account, then a reasonable wind-down period
- Application materials — while the account is active and for a limited period after withdrawal or closure
- Billing records — as required by tax and commercial law
- Security logs — for a shorter period unless needed for an investigation
When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it so it can no longer identify you.
Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, access controls, hashed passwords, and monitoring for suspicious activity. No system is perfectly secure; you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and notifying us promptly of any unauthorized access.

Subject to the NDPA, NDPR, and applicable law, you may request to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your data, subject to legal retention obligations
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Receive a portable copy of data you provided to us, where technically feasible
- Lodge a complaint with the NDPC / NDPB or another competent supervisory authority
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@careerlinkk.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We aim to respond within the timeframes required by Nigerian data protection law.
NDPA / NDPR compliance
Careerlinkk Digital Ventures Limited processes personal data of data subjects in Nigeria in accordance with the NDPA and NDPR. We act as a data controller for Platform account and operations data, and may act as a processor when handling certain candidate data on behalf of an employer under that employer's instructions.
We maintain appropriate technical and organizational measures, require processors to protect data, and document processing activities. Where a data breach is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify affected individuals and regulators as required by law.
Children
The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
International transfers
Careerlinkk Digital Ventures Limited is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. Our infrastructure and vendors may process data in other countries.
